New partner: Premiumropes brings knowledge and craftsmanship to the Dutch Youth Regatta 2027
What is the best rope for a halyard, a sheet or a control line? Why is Dyneema® so popular in racing boats? And did you know that you can make many of the splices on your own boat yourself?
We are very happy to welcome Lijnenspecialist / Premiumropes as a new partner of the Dutch Youth Regatta 2027!
They know pretty much everything there is to know about ropes, rigging and splicing – and during the DYR in2027, they will bring that knowledge straight to our Race Village.
Friday 7 May – come and discover the world of rope
During the Race Village Market, you can visit the Premiumropes stand to see, feel and compare different ropes. Discover how they are made, which materials are used and why a sheet needs different properties from a halyard or control line.
There will also be plenty of examples of splicing. From making an eye or loop to tapering a line, adding a protective cover or splicing a shackle directly into a rope.
But most importantly: you can try it yourself!
Throughout Friday, the team will run continuous mini-workshops. Just take a seat, grab some rope and learn how to make your first splice.
Saturday 8 May – Full Splicing Workshop
Want to learn more? On Saturday, one of the master splicers will take parents and other interested visitors deeper into the world of ropes and splicing. Places will be limited and registration will open closer to the event.
And of course there will be plenty for sailors too. Bring your questions about the lines on your own boat and find out what you could make or improve yourself.
A selection of ropes and splicing tools will also be available to buy during the event.
And that’s not all…
Premiumropes and the Dutch Youth Regatta have a few more things planned for 2027 – but we’re keeping those a surprise for now.
We are delighted with this partnership and especially with the opportunity to give our young sailors access to so much knowledge and craftsmanship.
Welcome to the DYR, Premiumropes. Let’s get splicing!
