Dutch Youth Regatta: More Than Just Racing

Dutch Youth Regatta: More Than Just Racing

With the Dutch Youth Regatta fast approaching, the energy is building both on and off the water. While the sailors battle it out on the Oosterschelde, the shore will be buzzing with activities, special events, and great opportunities to connect, learn, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Race Village Highlights

On Friday, May 30, and Saturday, May 31, the Race Village will come to life with local businesses showcasing unique products. Among them, Oester & Zo will display stunning handcrafted oyster shell decorations, while other vendors offer maritime accessories, upcycled sailing gear, and more. It’s the perfect place to browse, shop, and soak in the event spirit.

Workshops and Knowledge Sessions

For those looking to expand their sailing knowledge, we have some exciting sessions planned. Martin van Wettum will be hosting a gelcoat repair workshop, sharing expert tips on keeping boats in top shape. Meanwhile, members of the jury will lead an important discussion on Rule 42, helping sailors and coaches better understand its interpretation on the racecourse.

On-Site Sailmaker Support

Need a quick fix for your sails? Throughout the entire Dutch Race Week, a sailmaker will be on-site every evening to assist with repairs, ensuring competitors can keep racing at their best.

Second-Hand Sailing Gear Market

Beyond the competition, we’re also giving back to the sailing community with a second-hand sailing gear market. If you have extra sailing gear that’s still in great shape but no longer needed, bring it along. Soon, we’ll share the details on how you can participate and give your gear a second life.

Exclusive Local Discounts

And let’s not forget the special discounts available for DYR participants and their families. Local businesses and attractions, including Deltapark Neeltje Jans, are offering exclusive deals, making it easy to explore and enjoy everything the region has to offer.

Get Ready for an Unforgettable Week

The final countdown has begun, and we can’t wait to welcome sailors, families, and supporters to an incredible week of competition, camaraderie, and fun. Keep an eye out for the Skippers Manual, coming soon, filled with even more details to help you make the most of your time at the Dutch Youth Regatta.
